How to Remove detach the Straps from the Ratchet Buckle

Remove the Straps from the Ratchet Buckle

FITKIT Door Moveable Anchor Straps on the door

Remove the Strap:
1. Press the RELEASE button (black tab labeled “RELEASE”) on the ratchet.
2. Swing the handle downward to a 180° open position until you hear a click.
3. Pull the strap out smoothly.

Strap Still Won’t Release?
If the strap remains tensioned against the door frame and won’t release after opening the ratchet handle, the most common cause is incomplete handle release. The handle must be fully depressed to a near-horizontal position (approximately 180° open) to disengage the locking mechanism.

    Follow these steps:
    a. Press and Hold RELEASE Tab: firmly depress and hold the black RELEASE tab (button) at the base of the handle. Keep it depressed throughout steps 1-2.
    b. Fully Depress Handle: slowly and forcefully push the handle downward until it reaches its lowest position (fully open).
Success indicator: You should hear/feel a distinct click as the mechanism releases, followed by a noticeable reduction in resistance.
Note: A click may not occur if the strap is minimally tensioned.
Visual cue: When fully depressed, the RELEASE tab may contact the strap tensioned against the door frame.
    c. Remove Strap: Once release is confirmed (by the click or reduced resistance), smoothly pull the strap outwards.
    d. Moderate Resistance: If the strap remains secured after a confirmed release (click), apply steady, moderate force to pull the tensioned strap free from the door frame.

    Still Experiencing Issues?
If the strap cannot be released after carefully following all steps and ensuring no physical obstructions exist, the ratchet mechanism may be defective.
